The Cobra Foundation, is a charitable organisation set up by Cobra Beer. Since Cobra Beer was founded in 1990, the company has been a keen supporter of a huge number of charities all over the world. By establishing the Cobra Foundation, Cobra Beer intends to reach out even further in offering support to a range of worthy causes. The Foundation will take the form of an independent fundraising charity, which makes grants available to those in need.
Cobra Beer made a substantial initial donation to the Foundation at its launch in 2006 and thereafter on a regular basis, will continue to pass on funds raised from donations made by organisations and events to which beer and General Bilimoria Wines have been supplied to the Foundation. This money will then be distributed across nominated charities and other causes.
In launching the Cobra Foundation, Lord Bilimoria, CBE DL, Founder and Chief Executive of Cobra Beer commented: “Cobra has always striven to be socially responsible and to help and assist others in their endeavours. The creation of an independent charitable foundation allows us to be more proactive in providing real grant-based support for worthy causes.”
One such example of the work of the Cobra Foundation is its support of the Indian Co-operative Oncology Network (ICON). The Foundation has given them a grant, which enabled a training oncologist to visit the UK and spend time at cancer research centres to develop his skills and learning
